Rest a Little While
Rest a little while
spend a little while
will you stay a little while with me?
Maybe we will touch
and never feel enough,
or we will fall in love, possibly.
We can give and hope,
watch the turning globe
pretend to be involved,
even come to understand
what we should be asking:
What does love really mean?
When leaves begin to fall,
our hearts turn and roll.
Will our love last at all?
We will see? We will see.
As the winter churns
together we learn
that together we yearn
to create a little immortality,
for when we are gone,
what do we leave?
In you I have found
our lives are turning ‘round,
our hopes are gaining ground
that love is a matter of belief!
O’ rest a little while,
spend a little while—
O’ won’t you stay a little while with me-e-e-e…
Maybe we will touch
and never feel enough
or maybe fall in love actually.
