From the day we are born, we are taking in information and weaving it into our beings as we sort and make meaning of the world around us. This information becomes the stories that steer us. These stories are the sun to our leaves; we shift in the direction of what we believe is nurturing us. We make meaning within the contexts we have access to, the environment we are growing in, the shared beliefs of our communities, and the songs and lyrics of the world around us.
Yet when the lyrics we sing obscure our truths, we experience discord and suffering. The stories we crafted with the lenses we had access to at the time, in response to the context and lyrics of our surroundings at the time, can cause us harm, inner violence, and war if we are ignoring the truths that have grown and evolved since then. The stories meant to help us understand our world and our place in it turn out to be a fog, blocking us from the sun’s real rays of light.
We all have songs that have obscured our truths. The key is, are your songs blocking you from your true soul songs, your true connection to your inner light? @krystamaravilla
